We know very little about antique dolls, but we do have the notes of a professional who overhauled this doll in 1989.
This is a Heubach Koppelsdorf doll, from Thuringia, made about 1890-1910. She has a bisque (ceramic) head, with composition plastic bent-limb body.
A century ago, it was a little girl's favorite toy, we are selling it on behalf of that woman's daughter, hoping for an appreciative home. (Though it's been very well-maintained, this is still a fragile item, at the request of the owner we WILL NOT ship outside of the United States.)
This doll is about 14" long. She has the "quiver tongue" that still moves freely. She is a two-tooth baby.
Her sleepy dark-blue glass will close slightly when she is tipped back, but the mechanism is stiff may need resetting.
We decided not to remove the wig (it's tacked down with a spot of glue), but the back of the head is clearly marked

Her hair is the original curly mohair wig, is almost completely intact under her cap.
As we've indicated, the doll was partially restored in 1989, for the original owner. The body joints have been re-strung, a broken finger repaired.
The head was repaired, though we have no idea to what extent. The paintwork is very professional.
Her outer clothing is also new, but her slip drawers are original. We are including the original dress (shown) which is fragile but still shows a bit of luster.
The composition body shows much fading outside the dress, but still retains much color in the covered areas (shown), has not been restored other than the broken finger.
We are also including the dark-stained wooden chair (shown) on which she's been resting for more than 20 years. It was bought at a flea market, stands 19" high.
Considering the value of this doll series, we have set a reasonable reserve price based on the advice of a doll expert. Please bear with us: it's not an outrageous amount!
