Very unusual and old mohair and composition monkey ape

This is the most unusual old monkey toy. He is made from a type of mohair and he has a composition head and hands. His feet are mssing, but they would have been attached with the remaining wood that is there. His limbs are jointed, and the old elastic has stretched so he may need re stringing.
As you an see, his head is attached by just popping the tube attached to his head into the body. He seems to be holding a carrot?
I have no idea on his age or maker, but he is of good quality and does seem to have some age to him. He is in good condition, he has a small amount of paint missing to his bottom lip (see picture).
